As winter turns to spring we look back at what Cathedral Square Friends accomplished this winter and look forward to enjoying summer in Cathedral Square.
Most of the winter we worked on Color The Square, our initiative to bring hanging flower baskets back to Cathedral Square. In just a few short months we raised over $17,000 for the project. With these funds we will be installing 16 hanging baskets on 8 poles in the square in 2018 and are planning to fill the remaining poles with hanging baskets in 2019.
We’ve received financial support for the Color the Square project from Taylor’s, East Town, Milwaukee Downtown/Business Improvement District 21, Associated Bank, Presidents Development Company (Van Buren Management), Sport Club, Warshafsky, Rotter, Tarnoff & Bloch, S.C., This is It!, Herb Kohl Philanthropies, Argosy Foundation, Elsa’s on the Park, Real Chili and numerous individual donors. On, February 25th, George Schneider, co-owner of This is It!, held a fundraiser for Cathedral Square Friends. The event featured drink specials and a raffle with prizes from The Pfister, The Milwaukee Ballet, The Milwaukee Symphony, Milwaukee Brewing Company and other local organizations and businesses. In the end the event raised $750 for Color the Square in just a few short hours.
Once again this summer we’ll be at Jazz in the Park, Bastille Days and the Cathedral Square Market so feel free to join us.
