#GivingTuesday is an opportunity for you to help improve your community by supporting local organizations and we hope that Cathedral Square Friends, Inc. will be on your list.
Thanks to the many supporters of the Cathedral Square Friends, the square looks better than at any time in recent memory. The new sod and the rest of the lawn is green and lush. The new bushes, currently protected with white fencing, are filling out and looking good. The mud and weeds between the sidewalks and the street have been replaced with decorative crushed red granite. Milwaukee County Parks has installed a new playground.
We are taking the next step to improve Cathedral Square by expanding our successful “Color the Square” initiative. In 2018, eight light poles in and around the park were decorated with two baskets each which throughout the summer were overflowing with colorful flowers and plants. The sponsor-funded project delighted visitors who attended concerts and other events in the Square as well those eating lunch, playing games, or just enjoying the park.
With the initial project so well received, this new effort will concentrate on getting funding for 28 more baskets to be hung on 14 other poles in the Square. On this #Giving Tuesday, will you make a small donation to support our efforts?
